Lunch & Learn: Shawn Crable

by | Feb 6, 2024

Former NFL player and community leader Shawn Crable will be hosting a discussion titled “Conversations around Black Businesses” at the Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank on Thursday, February 8. The event, hosted by the Stark County Minority Business Association (SCMBA) and the Minority Business Assistance Center (MBAC), is part of their monthly Lunch & Learn series and aims to provide insights, tips, and encouragement to minority business owners in Stark County, especially during Black History Month.

As the Director of Resident Services at Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority, Shawn Crable brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the discussion. A graduate of the University of Michigan, where he excelled in football for the Wolverines, Shawn went on to have a successful professional career with the New England Patriots and the New York Jets. After his NFL career, he pursued further education, earning a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Malone University in 2020. His professional career is marked by a deep understanding of strategic development, management, and operational policies.

Beyond his professional achievements, Shawn remains deeply engaged in the community, serving on local boards and committees. He is a landlord, the Vice President of the NFL Alumni Association for the Cleveland Chapter, Vice Chair of the Stark County Black Caucus, and a committed mentor to disadvantaged youth.

The discussion will provide attendees with the opportunity to ask questions, gain motivation for their ventures, and learn about the importance of supporting minority business owners. Lunch will be provided (catered by a SCMBA member) for all current SCMBA members and local minority, women, and veteran-friendly business owners. RSVP is required.
