International Women’s Day

by | Mar 8, 2024

March 8 is designated as International Women’s Day. Today, we at the Stark County Minority Business Association (SCMBA) and Minority Business Assistance Center (MBAC) are taking a moment to celebrate the remarkable achievements of women in business. Within our organization and among our membership, women play a vital role in driving success and fostering growth.

Did you know that women-owned businesses are a significant force in the entrepreneurial landscape? In the United States alone, women own approximately 42% of all businesses, contributing over $1.9 trillion to the economy each year. Furthermore, between 2014 and 2019, the number of women-owned businesses grew by 21%, outpacing the overall national average.

Here at SCMBA and MBAC, we’re proud to be part of this thriving community. Approximately 59% of our membership comprises women entrepreneurs, demonstrating their resilience, innovation, and determination to succeed. Additionally, an impressive 60% of our SCMBA staff are women, contributing their expertise and passion to our daily operations.

We want to extend a special shoutout to the incredible women on our team:

Amilah Johnson-Williams, our Office Manager and Administrator, who ensures the smooth functioning of our organization, keeps events on track, and fosters a culture of volunteerism.

Elise Watkins, our Marketing and Communication Coordinator, who works to ensure that our message resonates with every corner of the community we serve.

Lydia Lee, our Program Director, who curates exceptional programming tailored to the diverse needs of minorities, women, veteran business owners, and youth alike.

Today, and every day, we honor and celebrate the invaluable contributions of women in business. Their dedication, innovation, and leadership inspire us all to strive for excellence and inclusivity in everything we do.

Happy International Women’s Day! Let’s continue to empower and uplift women in business together.
