Celebrating the Launch of Everyday Vending: A Student-Led Business Venture

by Elise Watkins | Jan 30, 2025

SCMBA is proud to announce the launch of Everyday Vending, an exciting new business venture developed by the students of the Youth Entrepreneur Program (YEP). We are now seeking support for this incredible venture!

Everyday Vending is not just another vending machine. It’s a business created by four Canton City high school students to provide essential, non-food items to both students and staff. The machine offers school supplies, branded merchandise, and other practical items that cater to the daily needs of the school community.

This initiative is part of the YEP program, which aims to empower students with real-world business experience. The students were responsible for every step of the process, from creating the business plan to electing their leadership team. The elected board members include:

  • Allona Lee (President)
  • Elias Reynoso-Solis (Vice President)
  • Marlon Castelano Del-Cid (Treasurer)
  • JaeLeah Mitchell (Secretary)

These student leaders oversee operations such as restocking the machines, managing transactions, maintaining financial records, and hosting regular executive meetings to ensure the business runs smoothly.

On January 15, 2025, we hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony that brought together local officials, community members, and the students themselves to celebrate their hard work. Lydia Lee, SCMBA Program Director, led the event, with Leonard Stevens, SCMBA CEO, speaking about the program’s impact and his pride in the students’ success. Nate Chester, owner of Legends Elite Sports Barbershop and YEP Coach, also shared insights into the real-life business decisions the students have made throughout the process.

Canton City Schools’ Vice Superintendent, Gary Kandle, and the Principal of McKinley High School also attended, showing their support for the students and the impact of the program.

Everyday Vending has already been trademarked in Ohio, and the students are excited about the potential for growth. They are actively seeking donations of non-food, non-tech items to stock in their machines and are exploring opportunities for expansion beyond McKinley High School.

This initiative not only provides valuable business experience to the students but also strengthens the connection between the school and the local community. As these young entrepreneurs continue to learn and grow, they are shaping their futures and the future of entrepreneurship in our region.
