We are committed to supporting minority, women, and veteran-owned businesses by providing the resources they need to launch, grow, and sustain successful enterprises. As a designated Minority Business Assistance Center (MBAC) by the Ohio Department of Development, SCMBA plays a vital role in economic development.

Who We Serve
SCMBA serves small and disadvantaged businesses across Stark, Summit, Carroll, Wayne, and Tuscarawas counties. While we assist all businesses, our primary focus is on businesses that are minority-owned, women-owned, and veteran-owned, helping them overcome challenges, access funding, and secure contracts.

MBAC Services & Certification Assistance
SCMBA operates as a Tier 1 MBAC, supporting businesses in their startup and early growth phases. We collaborate with the Akron Urban League, a Tier 2 MBAC, which specializes in assisting more established businesses with procurement opportunities, access to capital, and advanced business development.

One of the key services we offer is certification assistance for businesses seeking state and federal recognition, including:

• Minority Business Enterprise (MBE)
• Women-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE)
• Veteran-Friendly Business Enterprise (VBE)
• Encouraging Diversity, Growth, and Equity (EDGE) Certification

These certifications can help businesses access government contracts, corporate supplier opportunities, and funding programs designed to support underrepresented entrepreneurs.

Comprehensive Business Support
Beyond certification, SCMBA’s MBAC offers:

• Business counseling and strategic planning
• Loan packaging assistance and funding referrals
• Contract and bidding support to help businesses secure opportunities
• Local resource connections for professional development and networking

By providing mentorship, education, and financial resources, SCMBA is actively working to close the racial wealth gap, promote business growth, and build a thriving, self-sustaining business community.
