SCMBA Announces CLIMB Program: APPLY TODAY!

by Elise Watkins | Jul 17, 2025

We’re excited to announce the launch of the SCMBA CLIMB Program — a powerful new initiative designed to elevate and empower local entrepreneurs in Stark County. Applications are open now and due by August 8, 2025.

What is CLIMB?
In partnership with the Kirk Schuring Business Development Center, CLIMB (Capital to Launch Individual Minority Businesses) is a training and support program that addresses longstanding economic barriers and opens doors for minority, women, and veteran-owned businesses.

Participants will gain access to:

  • $3,000 in grant/seed money for their business
  • 10 in-depth entrepreneurial training modules covering business planning, financial management, marketing, technology, and more
  • A financial literacy series focused on credit improvement, bookkeeping, loan readiness, and asset building
  • Innovation workshops to help integrate digital tools and boost operational efficiency
  • Mentorship and networking opportunities with experienced business leaders
  • The Marketplace on 10th, a retail initiative to showcase and sell your products

Why it matters:
Stark County continues to face high poverty rates and limited access to resources for underserved entrepreneurs. CLIMB is here to change that by equipping local business owners with the tools to thrive, compete, and create lasting impact in our communities.

If you or someone you know could benefit from this program, we encourage you to apply today.
