Shawn Crable will engage in a fireside chat discussing “Conversations around Black Businesses” sharing insights from his journey, offering tips and tricks, as well as providing uplifting encouragement. Attendees can ask questions about their own businesses, gain motivation for their ventures, and learn about the significance of supporting minority business owners in Stark County, especially during Black History Month.

As the Director of Resident Services at Akron Metropolitan Housing Authority, Shawn Crable brings a wealth of talents to his role. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, where he made a name for himself playing football for the Wolverines before moving on to a professional career with the New England Patriots and the New York Jets. Following his time in the NFL, Shawn pursued further education, obtaining a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Malone University in 2020.

During his tenure at The Early Childhood Resource Center from 2015 to 2021, Shawn demonstrated his capabilities by progressing from Parent Engagement Coordinator to Director of Outreach. His career is marked by a deep understanding of non-profit organizations, with a focus on strategic development, management, and operational policies.

Outside his professional endeavors, Shawn remains heavily engaged in the community, serving on local boards and committees. He continues to leverage his platform as a former professional athlete to support charitable causes. He is the Vice President of the NFL Alumni Association for the Cleveland Chapter, Vice Chair of the Stark County Black Caucus, and a landlord. Shawn is married to his lovely wife Tasha Crable and shares 7 kids through a blended family. He enjoys working with disadvantaged youth in our community and prides himself on living a life of service.

Shawn is currently 38 years old and has held multiple titles from athlete, entrepreneur, and mentor, to Chief of Operation. He enjoys the title of father and husband to his wife and kids.
